The student housing at Spinderihallerne consists of 44 apartments distributed across three floors, each with its own kitchenette and bathroom, as well as shared common rooms and communal facilities. Some of the apartments will include a mezzanine level with space for a sleeping area. The University of Southern Denmark (SDU) will be located in one of the Spinderihallerne buildings during the first few years, making the university and the students neighbours. The location of the project places specific demands on both the architecture and the preservation of existing building elements that were part of the former cotton mill operations. The building has been designed to integrate with the existing structures while ensuring that it does not compete architecturally with the former boiler house.
